Preparing to see Her Majesty

Pastor Pastor's Thought

As the finalist wait, with baited breath for the results of Britain’s Got Talent. Yesterday, on our television screens, we saw contestants enthusiastically giving the performance of their life, with family and friends cheering on. We saw contestants eager to impress the judges and viewers with their wonderful acts. We also saw them trying earnestly to ‘whoo’ the audiences with their charm and charisma, and finally after months of practicing and auditioning to win the ultimate prize and perform in front of Her Majesty the Queen.

Finally, the results were in. Without doubt the viewers and judges were unanimous in their decision, Richard Jones the Magican from Essex received the honour and privilege (just like Esther) of performing in front of the Queen and other members of the Royal Family at The London Palladium.

The story of Esther from the Bible springs to mind. Here we have an orphan girl, with no prestigious background or special education preparing to meet the King Xerxes. Such was the honour and privilege to be even acknowledged by the King that it is said that Esther prepared intensely for her visit with beauty treatments and sweet smelling perfumes. Esther ‪2:12‬‬‬. Before a young woman’s turn came to go in to King Xerxes, she had to complete twelve months of beauty treatments prescribed for the women, six months with oil of myrrh and six with perfumes and cosmetics.
