On Fire

Pastor Pastor's Thought

It was reported this week in Southern California that Forrest Gordon Clark aged 51 had been arrested for starting the so-called Holy Fire.

Mr Clark has had a 10-year dispute with his neighbours to which it was reported that he had emailed the local volunteer fire chief to threaten “this place will burn”.

The fire quickly spread burning over 9,600 acres through the mountains of Southern California.

Ironically, all 12 nearby properties where Mr Clark started the fire were burned to the ground but only Mr Clark’s home left standing.

The fire has been so overwhelming that it has needed over 600 firefighters to battle what has been dubbed as the Holy Fire.

California officials have said that it is the largest wildfire ‘largest in history’ and their tireless efforts continues to bring this nightmare under control.

Mr Clark was later arrested outside his cabin on Tuesday following a brief standoff with officers.

He was charged with arson, felony threat to terrorise and resisting arrest and was booked in jail on a $1m bond.

A spokeswoman for the Organelles county district attorney’s office Ms Schroeder said her office would “bring him to justice for these terrible crimes”.

So far, it has been reported that two firefighters have been treated for heat-related injuries in the Holy Flames.
Evacuations continued on as the Holy Flames Fire continues to threaten homes and livelihood.

John Wesley says, ‘Catch on fire and people will come for miles to see you burn’.

The real Holy Fire we desire is that of the Holy Spirit, that comes to cleanse, heal, consume and grant new life in Christ. May we catch a fire in the Holy Ghost so that people will see us on fire for God. May we also remember in our prayers the victims in this instance.
