He’s Alive

Pastor Pastor's Thought

The morning after the Sabbath, the women proceeded to the tomb where Jesus was buried.  The expectation of Jesus’s ministry of liberating the people as the Messiah has been fully dashed and the central figure, Jesus, is dead.

To add insult to injury, Judas betrayed Jesus and has committed suicide; Peter, one of Jesus’ closest disciples has denied him and the remainder of the disciples have all disbanded.
What was a promising Ministry has ended in disaster (or so it seems) Jesus like so many would be Messiah’s has been brutally crucified and is now buried in a borrowed grave.
Here go the women with spices to embalm the deceased Jesus and as they arrived at the grave….. they find the stone rolled away and the body of Jesus gone.

This sets the scene of one of the most amazing events in history; not just a miracle, but THE miracle (as German theologian Karl Barth put it).  The resurrection of Jesus is the single event that has changed the course of history and the world without which Christianity would lose its impact and heart of its message.

The fact that the women found an empty tomb was a miracle too in itself, as they were commanded to tell the good news. As they began seeking for the body of Jesus, they met the Lord’s angel who said, He is Risen, go tell the disciples.  Then they met Jesus and He told them to go tell my brethren!
On this Resurrection Sunday, we have the GOOD NEWS, so let’s go tell the lost CHRIST IS RISEN INDEED.

HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY!
