He’s Alive!

Pastor Pastor's Thought

Resurrection Sunday is the most important time of the year, in the Christian calendar. Although Christmas time is quite significant, wherein it demonstrated the Love Gift God sent in human form by way of His Son Jesus Christ; this was part of the wider plan.

Many faiths have seen leaders come and go. Yet, for Jesus, His life held three significant parts. His birth and life, His death, and His resurrection. Although his birth and life differed from all others, it is His resurrection that made Jesus truly unique.

Despite having guards and securing the tomb (Matthew 27:62-66), and a massive stone of some two-tonne in weight (as scholars have suggested), the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ could not be stopped or hindered by any power.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ did what no other faith leader could do. In rising from the dead and living forever, Jesus conquered hell, death, and the grave. In Revelations 1:18, we read ‘I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.’

James Wilson wrote in Easter: Jesus Arose!, “Muhammad died, and was buried. His faithful followers take pilgrimages to visit his remains, the same is true of Buddha and other religious leaders. But it is not true of Jesus. You cannot visit His remains; you can only visit His empty grave because He isn’t there. He Arose!”

Jesus has done what no other human being has been able to and what mankind continues to strive to accomplish; to conqueror death. While we are living longer, striving to fight sickness and diseases; outside of Christ, we fail in the battle against death.

John Scott wrote, “We live and die; Christ died and lived” and in Christ, as believers, we have hope that, as Christ arose from the dead, we too will arise and live forevermore.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ~ John 3:16

Happy Resurrection Sunday!
