The increase in visual and audible media and entertainment has surpassed our wildest dreams, anticipation or expectation. Additionally, the future as to how we access and or engage with the media and entertainment is increasing and evolving at an alarming rate. We’ve progressed from no visual, to black and white, then to mono audio, to colour and Dolby audio, 3D TV to surround TV and now we are in the era of virtual and 4D.
Undoubtedly, as we access media on the go, its influence upon society and the church is unquestionable.
At every age group, there is the expectation for us to be technologically savvy, if we are to engage with an ever evolving society.
When Jesus commissioned the church to go ye into all the world, it would have been hard to believe, that we would be able to go into all the world from the comfort of our living room.
It is said, that today’s mobile phone, is more powerful than the first mainframe computers.
George Orson Wells 1984 Big Brother seems to be the prophetic stage through which we define our society, where privacy and solace are eroded due to the media. It appears that our desire for news is such that pulls down, is negative, sensationalised and exposes. The everyday good news seems no longer palatable to the taste buds.
Bad news travels fast. Good news takes the scenic route.
